Miss Universe 2000

HISTORY. Representatives from 79 countries, territories and dependencies attended the Miss Universe contest. Certainly, India became the most powerful country in the Beauty World. Miss India, Lara Dutta, has all the qualities to be a Miss Universe-intelligence, beauty, personality, charisma and determination. Finally, Ms. Dutta was the new Miss Universe. Mexico City will be hosting Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Pageant 2007, marking the second time in 15 years that the city—one of the world’s largest–has played host to this top-line event.

The pageant, to be held for the second time at Mexico City’s state-of-the-art National Auditorium (the first was in 1993), will be broadcast live May 28 at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time (EST) by NBC and the Spanish-language network Telemundo.

Prior to the show, contestants will visit a variety of locations throughout Mexico to prerecord segments and attend special events. Tourism locales featured in the show will include the colonial cities and prehispanic sites of the southeastern state of Chiapas as well as Cancun’s world-famous beaches, whose turquoise waters and white-sand shores will serve as a breathtaking backdrop for the pageant’s swimsuit photo shoot. Yes, I am referring to the grand final of Miss Universe. This is one of the top beauty pageants in the world and will be followed by thousands of people around the world. Here are some interesting facts that I collected on Miss Universe

1. Miss Universe began as a local bathing in Long Beach, California. E ‘was organized by Catalina Swimwear. As time has turned into one of the most prestigious beauty contests in the world.
2. Since 2002, the Miss Universe Organization jointly by NBC and Donald Trump has been consulted. Paula Shugart is the current president of the Miss Universe Organization. He sells the television rights for the show in other countries. It also produces Miss Italy and Miss Teen USA. The winner of Miss Italy has participated in Miss Universe.

Pooja Chopra was crowned Femina Miss India World 2009 on 5th April bringing pride to the city of Pune, her family and friends. Two people especially elated about her success are her Pageant Coach Ritika Ramtri Kumar who trained her and Fashion Designer Priyanka Rajiv who designed her entire wardrobe. The synergy between these two worked beautifully, and they helped Pooja to first win Pantaloons Femina Miss India East 2009 and subsequently Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2009. (more…)

Miss Michigan 2010 Rima Fakih was just crowned Miss USA last night.Rima is a Lebanese-American living in Dearborn, Michigan was crowned Miss Michigan in 2009.

It is a happy event into a time when it seems that Arab Americans have been stereotyped in American media in a very negative light, almost automatically associated with a terrorist plot to bomb, and even the last time Media focus on the Arab-American woman Michigan was the CBS News 60 Minutes story on CIA agent Nada proudy. How did these people end up here?’ is the implied question of every sex tape. Especially with the druggy romp Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy’s ‘Dr. McSteamy’) and his wife Rebecca Gayheart filmed with beauty-queen-turned-Hollywood-madam Kari Ann Peniche.

In the video , we see the apparently inebriated threesome ‘ at one point Gayheart says she needs to lay down because she’s so high ‘ lounging au naturel in the fallen beauty queen’s Studio City apartment, passing around the camera and, for giggles, discussing what their porn names should be. Dane settles on ‘Tuff Hedemen’ (his favorite champion bull rider). Soon the threesome move to the bathroom where the two ladies disrobe and get into a jacuzzi tub while Dane takes over the camera duties.

This years Miss Universe will be set in the sunny scene of the tropical Bahamas over the 23rd/24th of August 2009. Throughout the 2 hour show 84 contestants will go head to head to give as best performance as possible and 12 world class judges will pick just one winner from the whole bunch. (more…)
